This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Social emotional development is important to the lives of every child, no matter the age. As students come into a new school year, meet new faces and places, they are exposed to so much information and stimulation that sometimes it can be overstimulating and create an emotional reaction that is new.

With this project, I am focused on providing my students with the proper vocabulary about emotions and providing social examples and cues that will help them develop social emotional intelligence in their early years.

Almost all students enjoy read alouds so I am asking for the Spot book set and the lakeshore emotions book set that will give me the opportunity to engage my students in enhancing their listening skills as they learn about emotions, what situations may trigger certain emotions and how to react.

There are also a few tools, like the gel beads faces, the emotions posters and mirrors, that will allow them to interact with other means that will help them identify what they are feeling and develop an understanding of emotions.
