This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am an occupational therapist that provides services for children with disabilities and special needs (ADHD, AUTISM, etc.)Kindergarten through 5th grade. My students are having difficulty expressing their emotions, following routines and regulating their bodies and would really benefit from having these social stories to help with the negative impact of COVID on the mental health of young children.
My students are eager learners who would benefit from social emotional learning materials to ensure the best possible transition back to school.
My Project
Many children have been negatively impacted by COVID.
These social emotional learning materials will benefit our students in ensuring the best possible transition back to school.
These materials will be used to facilitate discussions about emotions, routines and learning coping strategies. We will be using these materials to create a calm down corner in our room.
Social emotional learning is a critical experience for these children right now. Many of them have lost family members, have anxiety and have difficulty transitioning from online school to being back in the classroom. They would benefit greatly from materials that provide examples and are relatable.
