Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are all high school-aged students who are non-native English speakers. Many of my students speak Spanish as their first language, but I also have students who speak Vietnamese, Chinese, Creole, French, Farsi, and Dari as their first language. Many of my students have experienced moving to the U.S. from a different country, which can be a difficult situation for anyone to adjust to. I also have many students who live away from their families.

I am a strong believer in the power of social emotional learning.

I believe that students need to learn how to regulate their emotions, make positive decisions, and prioritize their mental health. My project includes resources that can help me to support my students in their social emotional learning including fidget toys to help them focus, books with social emotional lesson ideas, and conversation starters.
