My Students

My developmental kindergarten class has 12 students who are excited about learning and work so hard every day. These are students who were not quite ready for traditional kindergarten, and are tremendously benefitting from this extra year of academic and social-emotional growth before they go onto kindergarten in the fall.

These students inspire me every day and I want to do everything in my power to inspire them as well.

Having a classroom where they feel comfortable to work, learn, and be themselves is my biggest desire for these students. I want to continue to give them a classroom that they are proud to be a part of, and where they will grow every day.

My Project

These materials will help to engage my students in social-emotional learning, and will give them the tools they need to work on managing their own big feelings and emotions. The books will give me stories to share with the class as a whole, as well as individual students, to talk about their feelings, and to see that these feelings are okay!

The manipulatives provided by this project will help me to give my students the tools they need to work on learning self-regulation.

These skills are so important as they move to traditional kindergarten, and having this knowledge is HUGE for my young students. The tent will create a physical space where students know they can go to be safe and practice their breathing, calming, and regulation skills.
