My Project

This summer I will be spending 200 hours in a cohort with other educators to become a certified yoga teacher and social-emotional learning facilitator for " our kids". Our multilingual, asylum seekers and students with special needs will directly benefit from this training, myself included, as Breathe for Change training gives you the appropriate tools to navigate through the most recent challenging school environment and traumatic acts of violence around the world.

Mindfulness and Yoga sessions would take place before, during, and/or after school according to students' needs and schedule availability while other staff would be invited to attend and connect with students at different levels practicing self-awareness and self-management, social awareness, and identifying critical relationship skills that would benefit them in becoming responsible decision-makers, thus strengthening the mentor-mentee bond.

This is particularly significant for students with diverse learning needs who may be struggling with social interactions. SEL strategies empower students and adults alike to build meaningful connections, foster empathy, and enhance overall social competence. As students feel emotionally secure, their engagement in the learning process improves, positively impacting their academic outcomes.

I strongly believe that this training will directly and positively impact my students, myself as well as, and my colleagues through various interactions. With this learning, I will be qualified to facilitate wellness classes in my school and community in order to better manage all necessary tools that will lead to all of our healing and learning with a direct approach to mental health.
