Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is filled with motivated, creative, and hardworking students. Each day is a new chance to explore, share and learn. As a class and family, we motivate one another and love a challenge.

Although many of the students in my class are struggling readers, retained the year prior, or haven't had many opportunities to engage in authentic learning, that doesn't stop them for reaching for the stars.

Our classroom environment is a safe place for my students to make mistakes. Our classroom environment allows for all learners, including myself to be heard, seen, and respected. Our classroom environment will encourage and motivate all that enter.

My Project

The use of the Build a Duck LEGO bags is to give students a tanagable example of our differences while still teaching them that we are all equal. Each student is provided with the exact same LEGO pieces and asked to create a duck using those pieces. At the end of this activity, students will have a visual representation that we are all different, but we are also all equal. The books will build on this activity. They will facilitate discussions and lessons on empathy, self love, confidence, mindfulness and so much more.
