Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At start of each class period, students are assigned a social emotional learning activity to help them take a break from their previous class and gradually transition into our class. To give students some variety, basic art supplies such as colored pencils and markers help students take a break from frequent use of technology.

In an inclusive classroom, students need alternative ways to demonstrate their learning.

With colored pencils and markers, students will be able to demonstrate comprehension and analysis through drawing scenes from a text and making comparisons and/or predictions. Cardstock will be used when creating final projects to maintain neatness and longetivity. The white boards will help students reduce anxiety by providing alternative methods to respond during whole group instruction. They will be able to write down their ideas and responses, and ask questions on the white boards. They will also use them during small group work by collaborating with classmates and collectively writing a response on the board and showing it to the class. This helps keep the class engaged by encouraging conversations without students feeling too anxious to speak aloud to the class.
