Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students who work with me are in need of a learning environment that is welcoming and safe. With your support, the listed items can help my students feel welcomed and safe to connect with our school. Outside of school, my students do not experience an ideal childhood environment. Many of my students encounter hardships outside of the classroom including lack of resources, a disconnect from their parents, and traumatic encounters that our outside of their control.

With your support, you can help provide new and effective tools for my students to use across multiple settings outside of school.

For example, they can begin to experience what it means to learn self-compassion, learn how to show empathy towards others, decrease the number of psychosomatic symptoms they may be experiencing, and engage in healthy conversations that promote their social-emotional development. The requested items provide focus on modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, Commitment Therapy, and Self-Compassion. These items enable students to engage in conversation in a healthy and safe manner. Most importantly my students can utilize these tools to learn self-regulation strategies, eliminate negative mental barriers, and increase their level of motivation and hope to become contributing members of their community.
