My Students

In our fourth grade classroom, we start off every morning with a warm hello and friendly wave. It has always been important to me to instill a sense of family within our classroom to create a caring and safe environment. Many of my students carry the burden of difficult personal lives upon entering the school building. They work super hard and they are eager and excited to learn. Therefore, it is even more important to create an environment where the students feel ownership, safety, and care.

The majority of my students are learning English as a new language.

As learners of the new language, many of my students translate for their parents and grandparents at home. They carry a big responsibility of not only learning the language to advance their own academic careers but also helping their own families.

As a classroom teacher, it is my job to advocate for my hardworking and incredibly deserving students. I would love to have an opportunity to provide the materials for my students to provide them with everything they need in order to succeed in school.

My Project

Social emotional learning has become one of the most important parts of our children's education. After a whole week of rigorous work, my students have choice time on Friday afternoons. During this time, students are able to choose an activity to do or choose a game to play with their classmates. The games not only promote social emotional learning with their peers, but also help them learn to communicate.

Now more than ever our children need to learn how to socialize with each other.

With a whole year of remote learning, the gap in our student's interactions have exponentially decreased. Learning how to communicate, take turns, and share is something so simple that many of our students now lack.

What better way to learn those skills than with fun and engaging games! Students will also be able to have their social emotional needs met with relaxing fidget toys that can also be used during our Friday afternoon choice time. Help put a smile on my students faces with this selection of activities and games that we all fondly remember from childhood.
