Help me give my students a way to explore their feelings and emotions and creativity after not being in school for most of their Kindergarten experience. I want to create a safe place for my students.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Covid has impacted my first graders tremendously. Some of them have never been in a school setting due to online learning for their Kindergarten year. They are experiencing high emotions as they are learning how to get along with others. Some of my students don't know how to navigate this. Help me to inspire them with a calm space on a feelings carpet in my classroom where they can learn about and express their feelings. I want to be able to provide them sensory viewers and sensory tools to allow them a way to calm their feelings. I also want to teach them feelings and character traits through reading books and discussion time during our morning meetings and social/emotional weekly lessons. I also want to provide them time weekly them to express themselves through creativity with legos, blocks and building tools. This creativity time will help them as they grow, learning about their feelings and emotions and navigating the school classroom life.
