My Project

As part of improving student writing ability, we created a student journal project where students write on a daily basis. Over the years, we have developed inspirational, funny, engaging, and culturally relevant journal prompts to engage the students as part of a World Literature class.

A journal is a safe-space where students can express their challenges, triumphs, and goals.

Many students report that this project has been a wonderful part of their literature course each year. Although we ask students to write several paragraphs, many write pages per entry after they discover the self-empowerment that journaling can provide. After we started the journal project, we have seen a rise in student engagement, paper submission, and even writing skills. This has been a win-win dimension of writing courses.

As costs rise, buying journals and writing utensils can be a burden for students/families to provide. Please help us give these supplies to our wonderful students!
