My Students

Our school is a public charter school located in Ohio. It is a kindergarten through eighth grade building with most, if not all, of the students falling below the poverty line. Since we are also a Title I school, all of the children receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school is a warm and friendly place where kids can grow and learn.

As learners, students play a crucial and active role in education.

They involve and interact with students and teachers, participate in classroom discussions, and act in a receptive manner.

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is an integral part of education and human development. SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

My Project

Educators serve students with different motivation for engaging in learning, behaving positively, and performing academically. Social and emotional learning (SEL) provides a foundation for safe and positive learning, and enhances students' ability to succeed in school, careers, and life.

Life is a roller coaster of emotions!

I am asking for books that will help students with coping strategies. SEL makes a difference. We know this from the research, which demonstrates that an education that promotes SEL has a positive impact on a wide range of outcomes, including academic performance, healthy relationships, mental wellness, and more.
