This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever met a group quite like them?! My students are determined to learn despite what that may look like Fall 2020. I teach in a diverse New York City public school where we offer Spanish and English in a dual-language program. Students in this program are very eager to learn, however, safety is my number one priority!

A dual-language classroom should include a safe and exciting atmosphere for multilingual learners.

Students in this classroom have different learning styles and abilities. They love to use the classroom as a resource for their learning, and have inspired me to create such an environment!

My Project

Although many things are uncertain, one important truth is the need for social distancing resources in the classroom. Sneeze Guards are essential in order to protect the students and me while I provide one on one teaching services. I want my students to feel comfortable but safe, this is why I need disinfectants as well! Masks are a requirement in my school, and provides for students to be in the building in order to learn face to face. Lastly, colorful tapes and signs will be utilized for students to remain six feet apart.

All of these materials will help my classroom remain as safe as possible during this pandemic.

My role is to prepare the environment for my students in order to create a successful school year. I am eager to see what they will accomplish despite the odds!
