My Students

My school is located in a low-income neighborhood with students from diverse backgrounds. Over 95% of the population qualifies for free school meals. We are a Title I school. My classroom consists of special needs students, who put their best foot forward everyday.

My second graders are eager to learn and deserve quality materials.

With differentiated learning needs, having the right materials and resources is key. Due to Covid-19 my students need to practice social distancing and constantly wearing a mask. We need to have protective equipment like the plexiglass students desk shields in order to have small group instruction (which is not currently possible) and continue to keep everyone safe and have a fun learning environment.

Each students is unique, and has different learning styles.

We deserve quality resources and experiences that will shape their future. Being that we are a Title I school, however, it’s often a challenge to find funding to purchase materials and resources. Basic classroom supplies and technology are in high demand in our school. Our students deserve to experience high-quality education and resources to nurture their learning experience.

My Project

The plexiglass sneeze guard and student desk shields will continue to enhance the student, teacher, and peer interactions. Students are excited to come back to school. Due to the social distancing rules and regulations children will not be able to have regular teacher/peer relationships. With the items on my Donors Choose list students will be able to sit with one another while staying safe. Some students benefit greatly from small group instruction and unfortunately without the items on my Donors Choose list this will not be possible. Students are going to have to adapt to many changes as a result of this pandemic. They won't be able to hug their teachers, give friends a hi-five, or even eat lunch together. Please help me give my students a chance to have as much normality as possible.
