Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a culminating semester project (in December) I want my students to read a Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol.

After finishing a Humanities 101 course this will be a fun way to see how literature can get social reform messages out even through beloved children's tales.

Students will read A Christmas Carol and analyze it through a socio-economic lens and see how the message is applicable today. They will be able to use the knowledge they have gained all semester to see how this novella captures the human condition that never changes. They will brainstorm ideas and solutions for social reform and look at the history of this issue throughout the past 200 years.
