This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Your donation will support our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) classroom. Social Emotional Learning is one of the skills that we deem important for us to be able to provide for our students. Thoughts of suicide, depression, abandonment, and anxiety are some of the issues that students face in our society. At our school, we prepare students to not only pass tests at school but also to pass the tests of life. SEL promotes positive school climates and cultures and enhances students' intrapersonal, interpersonal, and cognitive competence.

Social Emotional Learning programs improve students' social-emotional skills, attitudes about self and others, connection to the school, positive social behavior, and academic performance; they also reduce students' conduct concerns and emotional distress.

Social Emotional Learning programs shape the entire school climate through the use of developmentally appropriate lessons. They also teach students specific social-emotional skills like self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, empathy, responsibility, relationship skills, goal-directed behavior, decision-making, and cooperation. With your support, we can create a more engaging school and prepare students for the challenges of the world. Funds will be used to directly enhance students’ Emotional Learning environment, books, and daily lessons.

Equity Focus
