Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am incorporating social emotional learning in my classroom. We have been talking about emotions and ways to express how we feel. I want to put a calming corner in my classroom to help my scholars take a break when they are feeling overwhelmed or aren't sure how they are feeling. My scholars come from all different backgrounds and have unique situations. I want to help them navigate their daily feelings in a productive way by giving them tools they can use this year and the rest of their lives. It is my belief that as a teacher I am responsible for their academic growth, physical education, and emotional learning. Children don't come equipped with the know how or tools to understand their feelings. I want to help them so when they leave my class, they are confident and prepared to handle fourth grade.
