Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work as a physical education teacher in the south Bronx. I absolutely love my job because I know that I’m helping a group of great students. Almost all of our students come from low socioeconomic homes. This is why when us teachers do something special for them, they are absolutely ecstatic.

Over 40% of our students come from temporary housing or double occupancy homes.

Our students are not going to the best conditions when they leave to go home. This is why setting up afterschool sports programs is very beneficial for our students. it gives them something to look forward to when the school day ends.

Last year I created a DonorsChoose.org project called "Soccer for Inner City Youth." This program was a huge success for our whole school. Our students really enjoyed the game of soccer and look forward to continuing their enrollment in the program.

My Project

Our students need more updated soccer equipment to keep the "Soccer for Inner City Youth" program going. We started this program last year, and our students absolutely love it. Not only do we have soccer after school program, but we are also using soccer during recess. Students organize their own games and absolutely love playing the great sport of soccer.

We want to continue this program this year.

However we need more equipment, including a Quick Feet Trainer Kit and soccer balls, to help develop the necessary skill set required to play soccer. We now have new students, and some of the equipment from last year is worn down. Please help fund this great program!
