Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students all come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds near the heart of Houston, Texas. They do not have many opportunities outside of the classroom to grow in their learning because their parents are often busy working and cannot help them.

My students are very eager to learn, and I want to be able to give them as much knowledge as I can while they are with me, as well as to teach them how to learn on their own for when they are at home.

After school programs are an opportunity for them to safely explore and grow as future members of our society.

My Project

Soccer balls are a necessity for a fun time at soccer practice! Not every student has their own ball, and at this young age, soccer needs to have as many opportunities as possible for working with a ball. Getting as many touches on the ball as possible will give these students an opportunity to participate more fully in our free after school soccer program. Many of the families cannot afford to enroll their child in a club soccer league, and this program at school is all they have available.

My goal is to make it as fun for the students as possible as they learn skills on the soccer field that will translate into the classroom.

The donations will help my students build confidence in themselves as they see how far hard work will take them, both on and off the field.
