My Students

My student-athletes are from a Philadelphia high school. In an urban community, it is particularly important to create opportunities and experiences for our students that widen their worldview. By providing soccer balls, shin pads, and training equipment students will have an opportunity to be part of a team in a sport that they may not have been exposed to due to lack of exposure. Additionally, our students will be pushed to be true scholar-athletes, maintaining great grades in order to participate on our team.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my student-athletes are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.

Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keeping things simple and providing my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences that they might not get at another neighborhood school.

My Project

If we receive the Soccer equipment, we will be able to maintain the Soccer team for our girls. It is my goal to enrich the lives of my students through access to athletic opportunities that they might never have had before.

We also know that instilling a love for athletics at a young age will be beneficial to them in the classroom as well as when they are adults.

As Soccer team members the students learn to be part of a family and to work hard to achieve their goals. They will learn the sport, hone their skills all while engaging in teamwork.

These donations will make the difficult job of managing such a large team a little bit easier. The ball bag will help hold the new balls, and since socks and shin pads are not included in the uniform the girls would appreciate them! The goal will help with practice behind school, just as much as the passing gates will help us with our dribbling skills and accuracy. Thank you for your consideration!
