My first grade students live in a rural community in Idaho. We are the home of the Eagles. Our motto is to SOAR in everything we learn and do.
"It's a place of fun and learning where we try with word and deed, to work and play and do our best each day..." This is the beginning of our school song.
At the end my students spell E-A-G-L-E-S and shout SOAR! We service a large Hispanic population. We are a Title One school, and a large portion of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. I love teaching and watching my students soar throughout the year.
My Project
I want to attend the Ron Clark Academy so I can see master teachers working with a variety of students. I want to learn how to be both engaging and motivating. I know that by attending the RCA I will learn new strategies and techniques that will be able to bring passion back to my class and my school.
I want my students to dream big and have the skills to reach those dreams and I know that it begins with me as their teacher.
About 10 years ago, I had the opportunity to see and learn from Ron Clark when he spoke to our school district. He was so passionate about kids and about their futures. I couldn't help but walk away with a desire to inspire my students and to be a better teacher. I need that passion again. I know that by attending the Ron Clark Academy I would feel that inspiration and be motivated to improve my teaching. I have heard and seen the excitement of other teachers who have attended the RCA. They are so excited to implement the techniques they have learned and I see how impressed they are with their students improvement. I hope to foster that kind of passion in my students. One where they will always be passionate to seek after knowledge.
