This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We're launching a dynamic drone mentoring initiative where 15 high school students will each mentor a younger student, guiding them through drone safety, flight basics, and teamwork. Together, they'll develop the skills necessary to participate in local and regional drone competitions—all while building confidence and community connections. To support our training, we’re requesting a classroom set of Sky Viper Dash Nano Drones—compact, beginner-friendly quadcopters with features like altitude hold, one-key start, 3D flips, and headless mode. These drones are ideal for safe indoor practice and help students build real piloting skills that will prepare them for more advanced challenges.

We’re taking it a step further by using the book as a dual-purpose tool, serving as both an engaging story and a drone flight logbook where students can document their progress, reflections, and skills—blending literacy and technical learning into a meaningful, hands-on experience.

At the heart of our project is the book Soaring with Drones: The Skyhawk Drone Club’s Adventures. This engaging story introduces drone technology through relatable characters, teamwork, and perseverance.
