My Project

My journey of becoming an elementary literacy educator nine years ago at a Title I school, is one that has conveyed itself to not only be rewarding professionally, but also empowering and fulfilling on a holistic level.

I'm seeking your support in helping me reach and obtain my goals of soaring and growing within the world of education, by way of the National Board and its rigorous, in-depth study through academic professional development.

I seek to strengthen my practice of teaching Elementary & Middle Literacy by delving into a process to fully study my content area through National Board. There are 4 comprised components, which are: content knowledge assessment, differentiation of instruction, teaching practice, and effective and reflective practitioner.

I'm seeking financial assistance for my National Board registration fee and my Content Knowledge Assessment (Component 1) for this academic year. This is my LAST component. I've finished the other components and scored successfully.

The extensive knowledge I'm gaining from this professional development ultimately benefits my students. I'm able to introduce more literary skills, differentiation tactics, and scaffolding methods that help in whole group and small group instruction.

Per the National Board website, "research shows that candidates who have National Board Certification demonstrate great improvement in their teaching practice". I seek improvement. Being certified prepares me to handle unforeseen situations in education; and, allows me to reflect on my teaching, while supporting students' learning.

Teaching is my PASSION! I make learning enjoyable by interconnecting learning to real life experiences that students can relate to and will remember for a lifetime. Embarking upon this National Board journey will help me feel well-rounded in education. Helping me be a better me will impact my students, positively! I have to continue SOARING to National Board! It's my passion to improve students' Literacy!
