This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher working in a Tier 1 school in New York City. Learning to read is significantly difficult for the special education bilingual students in my class. Effective reading instruction will be fundamental to their success in overcoming obstacles in order to become proficient readers. Through the implementation of structured literacy instruction with multi-sensory kinesthetic materials, I will be able to facilitate learning that is appropriate for all my learners. The multi-sensory materials will impact student learning as they will be able to use the materials to generate multiple pathways of recognition and understanding in the acquisition of integral literacy skills.
