Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading is a lost art in the age of technology. Some of my students haven't found their passion yet when it comes to reading. With your help, this could be the year that my students fall in love with reading again.

My 5th grade students come from a low income area school.

They have many different interests, personalities, and ways of life. They are a unique bunch, but they all have a way about them that makes them special. Some of my students are less fortunate than others. As teachers, we often go out of pocket to supply students with the supplies they need for everyday school work. Our administration does what they can, but funding is limited. Despite it all, they are all upbeat and never put anyone else down who might be less fortunate than others. It is that unique and special gift that makes them a joy to teach.

My Project

My students will use these new titles to enhance their reading comprehension. They will use the new books to create book clubs, book reviews, and book reports. These new titles will capture their attention and make them use their imaginations again. Students will work on drawing conclusions, making predictions, making inferences, asking questions, and developing skills to become better readers.

This project will make a difference because reading is a lost art.

In the age of tablets, video games, and iPods, students are moving away from books and away from solid education. I want to bring the love of reading back and with these new, up to date book titles, it will help change the way my students look at reading.
