This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a struggling, high-needs, urban neighborhood in New York City. Our school community is a warm, nurturing environment and the children enjoy coming to school.
The parents of our students are working hard to make better lives for their families and desire a stellar education for their children.
My little ones are curious, funny, imaginative, loving, creative, honest, and cute. The community is diverse and considerably low-income. The children I teach are all eager to learn and are enthusiastic. My classroom is comprised of children who have different abilities.
My Project
Our PreK classroom is a magical place. It is a special room where 4 year old children can come together to learn, play and have fun. We are trying our best to keep it super clean due to COVID-19, the Delta Variant, Omicron and other contagious illnesses. We need to keep our room clean for the children as they are touching each other and toys and surfaces throughout the day and that is why I am requesting soap.
I am also in need of snacks and treats.
The other children usually have a snack so we always like to have something on hand for those who did not bring a snack. I am also requesting Pez dispensers, ring pops, chips and yogurt for our little Valentine's Day party in February. I also requested fruit loops so I can make fruit loop necklaces with our four and five year olds. This activity will be not only fun and tasty but great for fine motor skill development.
I am also requesting some white t shirts for the children to make their own t shirt using their handprint and some fabric paint. The children will have this t shirt to wear throughout the year. This will be a big hit!
