My Students

My students are amazing. They are kind, funny, and energetic. They are passionate about the most random yet interesting things. I am trying my best to make math approachable and engaging for them. However, they are coming from 15 months of remote learning and have huge learning gaps. I also have some students who score 2s and 3s for English proficiency. My classes have a wide variety of personalities and I am grateful that I too get to learn something new every day from them.

My Project

My students frequently tell me that the soap dispensers in the restrooms are often empty, broken, or disgusting. With the numbers of COVID cases rising and my concern for everyone's cleanliness and health in general, I want to tape my bathroom passes to soap containers so my students will always have adequate washing materials.

My students enjoy guided notes and gallery walks because it is not ordinary you have those in upper level math classes.

My goal is to make math accessible and engaging in multiple ways. However, to do this I need paper! I give quizzes once a week to assess understanding, but I also like to assign 2 worksheets and some fun activity for them to practice what they have learned. This requires a lot of paper to accommodate every students needs.

My students and I recently found out we can write on our desks with expo markers and it comes off! I find engagement skyrockets when I allow students to grab Expo markers and start solving problems on their desk.
