This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As the music teacher, I have the honor and privilege of working with 600 young musicians. All of them have so many talents in addition to their academic success. I can see a future in music for so many of them! I call them "maestros" in class, meaning "distinguished musicians."
My students are tech-savvy, inquisitive, enthusiastic, and extremely gifted learners.
We have completed one full year of VIRTUAL learning, and technology will continue to be a large part of our learning in the 21-22 school year.
The things that my students achieve in their STEAM classes absolutely amaze me. I'm impressed by them every day, and truly strive to give them the best, most culturally diverse, most challenging, and most fun music instruction that I can!
My Project
During our completely virtual school year last year, my students have excelled using multiple music exploration, creation, and game apps that they wouldn't get the chance to try individually if we were together in the classroom. I would love to continue using these activities once we have students in the classroom, and my hope is to use these as a small group or centers station to give more opportunities for hands-on learning.
This will not only give me the opportunity to individually assess students more frequently, but it will give students opportunities to make connections and directly apply knowledge of the concepts we're learning in class into fun, interactive activities.
