Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third graders are very happy to be back in the classroom. We are a proud Spanish bilingual group that just love a good story. They finished second grade on the computers at home doing distance learning. We did a lot of reading online but now we can see and talk to each other in person and put our hands on old fashion paper books.

My students enjoy being in the classroom and working and reading together.

We like to solve math problem, read stories, write and have discussions about many different topics.

My students are a highly motivated group of kids, mostly from immigrant families that are passionate and curious about the world around them.

My Project

These books will help my students make smart book choices which can be hard for developing readers. In class, my students learn to choose "just right books" for them. Every reader is different and has different interests. Having a wide variety of high interest books will increase my student's confidence, independence and sense of self as a reader and a person.

These books will attract student interests because they are a combination of fiction and non fiction high quality books in English and Spanish.

My students are proud bilingual children and take and they are proud of being able to read and converse in both language with proficiency.

Students can apply the skills learned in Readers' Workshop to their independent reading books. Some of the tittles are Who was?, Tipos Malos, Hombre Mosca and many more from the National Geographic Kids and Times for Kids series.
