This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My mornings always begin with my Special Education Resource classroom. These students are pleasant, respectful, loving and require lots of attention. These students require constant modeling on daily living skills. I always have to reiterate to them the importance of maintaining proper hygiene.

The students I service daily are very energetic.

We do lots of lab activities and they are constantly moving around collaborating with their peers and learning from each other. My classroom is an inclusion setting where the students have varying exceptionalities. They are very eager to learn but are from low-socioeconomic background and often times cannot afford the basic daily "life essential" items needed. My school is a Title I school with 786 students enrolled and 730 of those students receiving free or reduced price lunch. These students work really hard to complete given assignments but they lack the necessary hygienic items needed to promote good healthy habits. These are items people often take for granted such as deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, sanitary napkins, and healthy snacks.

My Project

With the items requested my students who are in need of these supplies will be able to come to a designated area set up within my classroom and take the life essential items that they do not have at home before or after school. I also plan to host an event before school to educate my students on the importance of good personal hygiene and to be aware of health issues that can develop due to poor personal hygiene. These supplies will allow my students to be more sociable, confident, and develop a higher self-esteem among their peers.

My project will make a difference in the lives of all my students because they will develop more confidence within themselves.

Their self esteem would increase more and they will become more socially acceptable by their peers. This donation will also take the stress and relief off my students and guardians in finding the necessary resources in providing these much needed life essential supplies within their household.
