My students are amazing learners. The last year and a half has been rough for them as they have had inconsistent amounts of online school and in-person school, yet they come to school every day ready and excited to learn. Third grade is the perfect grade as they are learning important reading, writing, and math skills that will allow them to take on the world. It is truly a joy to see their bright, smiling faces every day and know that I get to help them reach their goals.
My Project
Books are an incredibly important part of learning and school and reading is a skill that cannot be underestimated. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of my students have not had as much access to books as they otherwise would have and are far behind where they should be in their reading skills. My students come from low-income homes with parents that have little time to read to them. We will study these magazines in class and then the students will get to take them home and read them to their younger siblings and share them with their families. The class sets of books are ones we study in class and it would greatly enhance my students' reading ability to follow along in the books as they are read.
