My Students

Our second grade students enjoy engineering and building! We use STEM as a part of our science curriculum. We need materials for 120 second grade students.

Our students can take everyday objects and ideas and create some amazing things.

The second grade science teachers are planning a STEM unit where all 120 of our students will collaborate, design, and then build a catapult to launch snowballs. We learn so much when we are able to work together. Our students are learning to following the engineering process. 1. Identify the problem 2. Research! 3. Brainstorm ideas and solutions 4. Draw your design 5. Build a prototype (the first working model) 6. Test the prototype 7. Evaluate and redesign

My Project

Students will work together in teams to see if they can make a design that will launch a snowball the furthest. We need to indoor snowballs for testing the prototypes. Students will need several snowballs for their team. We also need to tape, craft sticks, and rubber bands to build our prototypes. We are requesting enough supplies for the entire second grade. The snowballs will be reused every year.
