My Project
Our urban high school students are learning to ‘push the edge’ during the Owls Outdoors & S’mores camping trips. They are learning how to pitch tents, start campfires and cook over the open flames. They are learning how to dress for the elements and are exploring the nature that lies outside of their urban home.
Our students will be adventuring on their first winter camping trip and need snowshoes and trekking poles to take on the challenging snowy conditions of the trails; additionally, the trekking poles will also come in handy while climbing the dunes in the fall and spring.
Being outdoors, in nature, has inspired our students to become stewards of our natural world. They have become cognizant of how their actions affect their environment.
