Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work with special needs children with multiple disabilities. They are always happy and ready to experience something else. However, many of them are unable to use traditional school tools, such as a scissors. Even children friendly and "adaptive" scissors are difficult for them. Their physical and cognitive disabilities interfere with them participating in activities of daily learning (ADLs)

I want my students to participate in arts and crafts lessons by controlling the scissors themselves instead of others.

Usually, adults use hand over hand prompting to assist our students. I want our students to take pride in their own work and being able to have done it themselves. Let them create their own art work by pressing a button. Having three different types of button operated scissors will help our students do their own art.
