Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our school, basketball is the most popular sport. Along with playing the game of basketball, students enjoy the “fashion” that comes along with it. Many students like to look at Michael Jordan sneakers in their free time or at the end of class. Once a week, we have a faculty dress-down day. I own a few pairs of Jordans and wear them on dress-down days. Students are shocked when they see me wearing the same basketball shoes they like. This helps build a connection with the students and builds a positive rapport. Having a “history” of Jordan sneakers poster in a history class would be very ironic. Also, students always ask for any available snacks, as many of their parents work late hours and may not receive a proper dinner at home.
