My Students

I am currently an interventionist and STEAM Lab teacher at an amazing elementary school. The STEAM lab will serve students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade. They will have an opportunity to visit the lab for STEAM challenges multiple times a month.

I teach at a low socioeconomic school, where 88% of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch.

It is very important for my students to have hands-on materials to enrich their learning experience. Their attention spans are not meant to sit on a rug and listen to a lecture. The best way for students to learn is to have interaction with their subject and to get involved. The children get so excited and are ready to learn when they have opportunities for hands-on activities.

My Project

Learning is electrifying! I am ready to see the light bulbs turn on as my students explore the world of electricty by building circuits!

I want my students to have a hands-on experience with building their own circuits!

The snap circuit kits will allow them to work in groups to complete a variety of challenges. Students will be asked to build exciting projects such as a flying saucer, alarms, doorbells and much more! With over 100 pieces, the possibilites are endless.

The resources will be used by students in grades second through fifth. They can be used again and again. Their brains will light-up when they get to construct their own circuit and see if it is successful. They will also be challenged to find the break in the circuit if it does not work. The kits will help my students fully understand the concept of electricity. I hope it will inspire them to continue learning and ignite a love for Science!
