Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project's objective is to ease some hunger and provide some comfort in my classroom.

When I can, I try to provide students with food base rewards, like candy, chips, and sweets.

It can be challenging to keep that up, and it can be more challenging to educate a hungry child.

Also, we are a smartphone free school and as an educator it has been challenging to enforce and also understand why some of our students see a need for their device. Many prefer listening to music while they work. A "loophole," as I have phrased it to my students, is for them to come to school with some wired headphones that they could plug into their Chromebooks and listen to some tunes off the school issue device. Some of our students have to choose between a pair of headphones from a corner store or lunch. Many choose lunch. This project will provide some perceived loss in their comfort.

Not to mention that we always need pencils and good a sharpener! Many of my students are unable to come to school with pencils or a pen on a daily basis. As much as I am tech savvy and like seeing tech utilized in my classroom. I am always incorporating the "old ways,' we are history class, and my students need to be writing manually everyday!
