Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a high school math teacher and I teach students that come from low-income families. Despite that, my students are creative, thoughtful, and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically.

Seeing my students persevere and struggle through each math problem makes me proud because they’re giving math a try.

Truly, they are my inspiration!

My Project

My students are the most determined and hardest working people I know. Many of them face great adversity in their homes and in their daily lives, yet, they come to school each day hungry and willing to learn and to do their best. They arrive at school early and stay late. The majority get involved in sports or other extracurricular activities.

Students thrive and get relief when they are given snacks which fuels them to work more efficiently.

The snacks that I have requested will help my students.

I've found that students can focus better after having a snack, especially high school students. Also, when doing after-school work, they often do not get the chance to eat something and are very hungry.
