Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love that my students are always so excited to enter the doors of school! As kindergarteners, this is all a brand new experience for them. You can see the excitement in their faces and the willingness to learn. It is just so fulfilling as a teacher and it drives me to make sure they have a wonderful experience. The sad part is that when they begin to interact with their peers for the very first time EVER, they soon learn areas they are thriving in or lacking in. No great teacher can prepare for the defeat of peer-to-peer comparison. This is so real, even at the age of 5.

May of my students come to class without a snack from home.

I have always done my best to supply a snack, but it can get extremely expensive. It is my goal that this school year I can always have snack on hand for those students who do not bring one. I never want them to feel like they are "less than" because they weren't able to bring something from home wile their friend next to them has an entire second lunch with a note from home. It is an unfortunate part of my daily routine, but if I can avoid the heartbreak I would love nothing more than to do that for them.

Of course, I will also be in need of wipes to clean up their messes!
