This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school has a longer school day than most others, with classes ending at 4pm. Additionally we do block scheduling which has students in class for 85 minutes at a time with twice a week having those 85 minute stretches back-to-back-to-back. In short, it is a long period of time to go without food.
As we know hunger can be a major distracting force as their attention shifts from what's being taught to meeting their hunger needs.
As a result many of us at the school try to have snacks for students in our classroom for whenever they need a quick snack during class or between periods. We are requesting protein bars, granola bars and Pop-Tarts.
