My Students

My students are the most delightful group of children a teacher could be blessed to teach. My overcrowded school is located in a corner of The Bronx. They are inner-city kids, who must overcome many disadvantages in pursuing their education. The students are awesome, eager, and hardworking children who are struggling learners. A large number of these students are English language learners as well as special needs students.

My special students really just simply need extra support with their studies.

My Project

Somewhere around 10:00 I start to hear children muttering "When is lunch?" or "I don't feel good." I know it is due to hunger and we do stop for a snack. The problem is more than half the parents don't provide their child with a snack. In one week, I have gone through a huge tub of animal crackers. I hate to see anyone hungry but I simply cannot afford to buy snacks for my class. This is the reason I am asking for a variety of snacks. Imagine being able to give a hungry five-year-old a bag of healthy cookies.

Once everyone has satisfied their hunger, we can continue to learn for another two hours.

That is a big chunk of time in our school day. Please help my students contain their hunger and continue to learn. A snack a day is the perfect solution. Thank you for your consideration.
