My Project

As the school nurse of a Title I elementary school in the Los Angeles Unified School District, I have lots of children that come from low income families. Many times I am the only healthcare professional they will see all school year and I take that responsibility seriously.

Often times, the students come to the health office with stomach aches.

Sometimes those stomach aches are caused by hunger and sometimes due to indigestion or constipation. That’s where the snacks come in, as well as the peppermint candy and red licorice vines that help with indigestion and constipation respectively. The limited budget allocated to the Health office is used for medical supplies and equipment. We serve almost 600 students from Transitional Kindergarten to 5th grade. Last year was my first year as a school nurse and I spent almost $800 of my personal funds to tend to the health office needs and don’t have the ability to do so this year. I want to thank you in advance for your donation to my school’s little health office. May your generosity be returned to you a hundred fold.
