My Project

Many of the students in my classroom are English language learners and newcomers. Nearly all of my students come from low to moderately low-income households, with 98% of them qualifying for free lunch. Despite the support of free meals, many of my scholars still require additional sustenance throughout the day to maintain focus and energy levels.

By supporting this project, you will directly impact the learning experience of my diverse group of students, particularly those who face language barriers and cultural adjustments.

The funding will provide essential snacks to keep them nourished and attentive during our lessons.

Furthermore, incentives play a vital role in engaging my students, especially those who are adapting to a new language and educational environment. These incentives serve as powerful motivators, encouraging active participation, cultivating a positive learning atmosphere, and acknowledging students' efforts, thus enhancing their overall academic performance. Whether it's chips, candy, or other rewards, these small gestures contribute to a warm and supportive learning environment.

It's remarkable how something as seemingly trivial as a bag of hot chips can inspire students to attend extended-day tutoring sessions, demonstrating the profound impact of even modest incentives on their academic engagement and progress.

Moreover, while I possess a collection of science books in English for early finishers, I lack resources in Spanish to support my English language learners. This project aims to address this gap by funding a set of Spanish life science books, fostering a love for science among all my students, regardless of their language proficiency.

Your support will not only provide essential snacks and incentives but also ensure equitable access to educational materials, empowering all my students to thrive academically and develop a lifelong passion for learning.
