My Project

My school provides free breakfast and lunch and provides laptops for every student on campus. While these resources are amazing, what we can't "fund" is social emotional health and intrinsic motivation. Many of our students come from homes where their adult works multiple jobs to afford housing. Group homes and even homelessness are a stark reality that we anticipate and counter as much as possible.

Creating a comfortable learning environment, providing a safe space, and motivating them towards their goals are how we help them be successful.

I love watching their faces light up when they increase productivity after receiving a snack.

Students are always motivated by snacks so these will help provide that motivation and incentive to work hard on their assessments, get through tedious concepts or even make learning fun by using food as a hands-on prop or kinesthetic element used in learning.

Many students spend extra money on vending machine snacks throughout the day. Providing something in the classroom saves time that is spent out of the room and money and helps them to feel like we care.
