My Students
I teach in a high-needs school in Brooklyn, NY. My students come from a variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Despite these differences, my students give their all to be sure they understand any topic that is given to them.
My classes consist of gifted students, general education students, special education students, and English language learners.
In my classes, we are always exploring. I try to incorporate as much technology as possible. Students are able to use laptops to complete online simulations, Webquests, and research information on their own.
My Project
In our school, the majority of students rely on school breakfast and lunch to get them through the day. Our school day begins and 8:10 and students's lunch period begins at 1:00pm. Many students do not come to school with snacks and will wait until lunch to eat.
When students are hungry, they are less likely to focus on their school work.
By having a snack closet for them to visit, they will be able to have a snack every day, even if they cannot afford one.
My students will be able to stop by my classroom and grab a snack whenever they feel that they need one. This will help them better focus in their classes and not have to worry about the cost of snacks. In addition, the maxi pads will help students who need them without bringing attention to to themselves.
