My Project
My students often arrive at school having had a light breakfast or facing food insecurity outside of school hours. As the day progresses and lunch feels like a distant memory, their hunger can become a significant barrier to concentration and engagement in lessons. By providing readily available snacks like granola bars, fruit snacks, and crackers, we can directly address this need. These small but crucial items will offer a much-needed energy boost, allowing them to better focus on instruction, participate actively in discussions, and absorb new information.
A settled stomach translates to a more receptive mind, ultimately fostering a more productive and positive learning environment for everyone.
By having these snacks on hand, I can discreetly support students experiencing hunger, preventing them from feeling self-conscious or distracted. Furthermore, I aim to create a classroom where basic needs are met, allowing students to fully invest themselves in their education and reach their full potential. This project is about more than just snacks; it's about fostering a supportive and equitable learning space where every child feels comfortable and ready to learn.
What makes my students truly special is their resilience, their eagerness to learn despite the challenges they may face outside of school, and their incredible sense of community. They support and encourage one another, and their determination to succeed is truly inspiring. Providing these snacks is a small way to show them that I care about their well-being and to remove a tangible obstacle in their path to achieving their dreams.
