Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an incredible group of high school students in special education who inspire me daily with their resilience and determination. My students face various challenges, including learning disabilities and other barriers, but they are creative, curious, and eager to grow when given the right support. What makes them truly special is their perseverance and their willingness to try, even when things feel difficult.

Snacks may seem simple, but they make a huge difference in my classroom.

They serve as incentives for participation, encouraging students to engage in activities like class discussions, group work, and share-outs. These moments of interaction are critical for building confidence, communication skills, and a sense of community. For some of my students, a small reward can mean the difference between hesitance and active involvement. The snacks I am requesting will directly support my students’ efforts, providing a tangible acknowledgment of their hard work and contributions.

My goal for this project is to create a positive and supportive environment where every student feels motivated to learn and participate. Snacks as rewards have proven effective in helping my students push beyond their comfort zones, stay focused, and celebrate their achievements.

This project will not only enhance their learning experience but also help me celebrate their growth and accomplishments in meaningful ways.
