Snacks for Students with Limited Diets

My students need snacks. This is a high poverty school. Many of my students are eligible for free or reduced school lunch, but because of their autism are only willing to eat a very limited diet.

My Students

I am a special education teacher with children who have autism and communication disorders in grades k-2. I have a diverse class of 12 students. Some of my students need assistive technology in order to communicate. They love to learn and are very proud of their successes.

Many of them are able to do grade level work with the right support.

I work to help them access the curriculum through accommodations and specialized instruction in academics, social and study skills.

My Project

I am requesting Cherrios, Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, Popcorn, Cheez-It Crackers, and Graham Crackers for my students to have as snacks. Learning is hard work and makes kids hungry! I teach students with autism in a high poverty school. Many of my students are eligible for free or reduced school lunches, but due to their autism will only eat a narrow range of foods. I need to keep things on hand that they are willing to eat, or they may go hungry throughout the day. I have chosen a variety foods that I know almost all of them will eat. When their bellies are full, their minds can get to the business of learning! Thank you so much for your support of my students.
