My Project
Our town has recently gone through one of the most horrific natural disasters Florida has ever experienced; Hurricane Ian. So many students and their families have experienced significant amounts of damage to their homes and property, both from the hurricane itself and the flooding that followed the storm. Many families homes are destroyed and inhabitable, while others may be able to return home after the damages are repaired.
I would love to be able to give my students snacks to help curb their hunger and try to ease the burden on their families.
We will certainly have lots of trauma to process when we return to school, but when we are ready, I am hoping that having snacks available will help fill the bellies of my students so their brains will be prepared to learn.
