My Project

Providing snacks in my school counseling center is essential, especially in our low socioeconomic community, where many students face food insecurity. Hunger can severely impact a child’s ability to concentrate, regulate emotions, and engage in learning. The snacks I’m requesting will meet their basic needs, helping students focus on conversations, participate in activities, and retain strategies learned during their visits. A well-fed child is better prepared to succeed academically and emotionally, and these snacks will ensure they feel supported and cared for.

My goal for this project is to create a safe, welcoming space where students can address their emotional and mental health needs without distractions like hunger.

By providing snacks, I aim to remove barriers that hinder students’ ability to learn and grow, allowing them to fully engage in counseling sessions and schoolwork. Additionally, offering snacks builds trust and fosters a positive connection, encouraging students to seek help when needed.

What makes my students special is their resilience and determination. Despite facing significant challenges, including poverty and limited resources, they show incredible strength, kindness, and a desire to grow. They inspire me daily, and it’s my mission to ensure they have the tools—emotional, mental, and physical—to thrive. These snacks may seem small, but they will make a big difference in their learning, confidence, and overall well-being.
